New leader will help the firm pursue goals related to advancing equity both within the firm and across the philanthropy sector
WASHINGTON, March 5, 2020 (Newswire.com) - Arabella Advisors announced today that it has appointed its first-ever Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Kimberly Walker. Walker will be responsible for co-creating and managing the firm’s DEI strategy, coordinating efforts across teams to reach its DEI goals, and strengthening the capacity of Arabella employees and teams to engage in equity-related work. She has previously served the firm as leader of its learning and development work and is currently completing a Ph.D. program at Antioch University focused on leadership and change.
"I'm so excited to be working with Arabella in this new capacity and in an area that I am personally so passionate about,” says Walker. “I see commitment at every level of the firm to doing this work well. I am thrilled to support my colleagues and continue growing an inclusive and equitable culture at the firm, and I know that strengthening our work in the DEI space will make us even more capable trusted advisors to all of our clients and partners."
Prior to joining Arabella, Walker was the senior manager of learning and development at FSG, a social impact consulting firm. She holds a BA in Psychology and Hispanic Studies from William and Mary, an MA from UCLA in Urban Planning, and a master’s in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University. Her current Ph.D. research focuses on power dynamics and cross-sector partnerships, which she has previously discussed publicly.
This position on the Arabella leadership team will create and advance strategies and practices that ensure the firm meets its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Walker will serve as a strategic partner to key stakeholders, including executive leadership, business unit leaders, and Arabella’s Culture and Talent team. She will also collaborate with partners across the firm as it works to apply an equity lens to its communications and work with clients.
“We are proud to be an organization that promotes from within and prouder still to be able to fill this critical role with a valued team member like Kim, who brings a depth and breadth of expertise,” says Arabella’s CEO, Sampriti Ganguli. “I know I speak on behalf of the entire Arabella team when I say we are thrilled to have reached this milestone on our own DEI journey, and we look forward to continuing the work under Kim’s leadership.”
